Certificate Description
Since 1950, ABNT has been operating in the certification area, earning the respect and trust of large and small companies, national and foreign, who receive the most diverse types of certificates. ABNT currently has more than 400 certification programs in the most diverse segments, with the Product Certification Body (OCP) having the largest scope of accreditation with Inmetro.
The company identifies in the ABNT Conformity Mark the guarantee that it is acquiring products and services accordingly, meeting the most rigorous quality criteria.
ABNT Certificadora has an outstanding performance in the Americas, Europe and Asia, conducting audits in more than 30 countries.
ABNT’s Certification is a process in which an independent entity (3rd part) assesses whether a product meets technical standards. This assessment is based on audits of the production process, sample collection and testing. The satisfactory result of these activities leads to the granting of certification and the right to use the ABNT Conformity Mark in its products.
Unlike test reports and reports, which serve to demonstrate that a certain sample meets or does not meet a technical standard, Certification serves to ensure that production is controlled and that products are meeting technical standards continuously. The Certification is available to any company, national or foreign, as long as it demonstrates and guarantees that its production process is controlled and that its products are being manufactured in compliance with the standards.
ABNT is a founding member of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and, since 1940, has been a member of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). ABNT has also contributed to the foundation of the Pan-American Standards Commission (COPANT) and has taken part in the settlement of the MERCOSUL Association for Standardization (AMN), being responsible for its Executive Secretariat. ABNT is also a member of the Global Ecolabelling Network (GEN).
